This is one of the largest shopping malls in the Hokuriku region. The project brief called for a facility that would become an integral part of the local community, while also attracting overseas tourists using the nearby Komatsu Airport. Many aspects of the design adopt distinctive characteristics associated with the local area. These include the use of vertical lattice in the main entrance, to express a Japanese-style appearance; the façade’s autoclaved lightweight concrete panels engraved with a snowflake pattern; pitched roof features using louvers; and symbolic columns that have a Kutani ware (local traditional porcelain) motif. The restaurant zone, on the first and second floors, takes the theme of a food festival plaza. The leasable ratio is 75% thanks to efficient use of space. A new style of retail planning was employed to create continuity between anchor and specialty stores.
