In recent years, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has recommended “health management offices,”
and the “WELL Certification,” which was started in the USA to evaluate buildings
that consider the health of building users, is beginning to spread in Japan.
From the perspective of ESG and SDGs, it is increasingly necessary to implement spatial design that creates offices
that consider the health and intellectual productivity of the workers therein.

The Research Building of Kajima Technical Research Institute Main Complex
has received WELL Certified Platinum and WELL Health-Safety Rating.

The Research Building of Kajima Technical Research Institute Main Complex has received “WELL Certified Platinum” and “WELL Health-Safety Rating,” the highest ranks in the WELL Building StandardTM (hereinafter, *WELL Certification).

The acquisition of WELL Certified Platinum is in recognition of the our proactive efforts to improve personal comfort and promote the health of our employees in terms of the evaluation concepts for WELL Certification of “air,” “thermal comfort,” “light,” “nutrition,” “exercise,” “mind,” and “community” as well as our previous efforts to create an office that considers the health and intellectual productivity of workers therein.

Specific measures aimed at improving the health of employees include (i) providing wellness-related books and displaying health-related posters, (ii) installing signs encouraging employees to use the stairs, (iii) introducing ergonomic furniture, (iv) planting trees and installing artwork in common areas, (v) implementing a complete smoking ban inside and outside the building, and (vi) proactively striving to improve personal thermal comfort.

In particular, we have developed a “wellness space” that appeals to the five senses, called “SOTOBEYA,” and it has been highly praised as an advanced initiative.

By acquiring WELL Certified Platinum and WELL Health-Safety Rating, we will continue to propose creating spaces that consider the comfort, intellectual productivity, health, and safety of the people in building.
